Curator Ellen Lupton will lead you through Cooper Hewitt’s latest Triennial, dedicated to the theme of beauty. See and discuss works by graphic designers, surface designers, architects, and more, including Richard Niessen, Homa Delvaray, Non-Format, Kris Sowersby, Elastic, Francesco Franchi, Aaron Koblin, Studio Job, Ken Wong / ustwo Games, and Simogo. Smell a custom paint designed by Sissel Tolaas to capture the smell of Central Park, and walk through a luminous knitted pavilion designed by Jenny Sabin. Talk about how design impacts the senses and engages the mind and body.
About Ellen Lupton
Ellen Lupton is curator of contemporary design at Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum in New York City and director of the Graphic Design MFA program at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore. An author of numerous books and articles on design, she is a public-minded critic, frequent lecturer, and AIGA Gold Medalist.
